Shaykh Yasir Qadhi
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi is the Dean of Academic Affairs at AlMaghrib Institute, the man behind the curriculum and other academically intensive programs like IlmSummit. Shaykh Yasir is known among his students for his excellent Tajweed in both Arabic and the English language (i.e. his perfect enunciation of every letter).
Shaykh Yasir graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing a diploma in Arabic, he graduated with a B.A. from the College of Hadith and Islamic Sciences, and completed a M.A. in Islamic Theology from the College of Dawah. He has completed his PhD in Religious Studiens from Yale University.
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi is a resident Scholar of Memphis Islamic Center. He is also a lecturer at Rhodes College, in the Department of Religious Studies.
Shaykh Waleed Basyouni
Shaykh Waleed Basyouni, PhD, is the Vice President of AlMaghrib Institute and the Head of the Aqeedah and Adab Department. Students know him well for his sincere care for their well-being and progress in studying.
Shaykh Waleed Basyouni is an active member of various dawah organizations around the world and is very excited to be speaking at this year’s Ilmfest alongside a host of other amazing Almaghrib instructors.
Shaykh Abu Eesa Niamatullah
Shaykh Abu Eesa Niamatullah is famous for his "real talk", straight-forward attitude, extremely dark sense of humour and above all else, his Pathan kufi. Somehow connected to all four madha-hib through his numerous teachers, Shaykh Abu Eesa (a.k.a the Big Easy or "AE") has a rich grasp on Fiqh and Hadeeth.
Born in London, England, he tracks his roots to the Naser Kheil tribe of the North West Frontier in Pakistan. He studied both Pharmacy and Anthropology at the University of Manchester and later studied Arabic, Islamic Law and the Qur'an with its memorisation from scholars in a diverse array of locations.
Shaykh Ahsan Hanif
Shaykh Ahsan Hanif is the Head of AlMagrhib’s Qur’an and Hadeeth Sciences Department. Born and bred in Birmingham, UK, he is well known in his community as the young Qari who memorised the Qur'an at the tender age of 13 and who delivered regular halaqaat in Birmingham.
He graduated from the Islamic University of Madinah, Faculty of Shari'ah in 2006 with honours. He obtained ijazah in the Qur'an as well as studied under a number of well known scholars, and also recently completed his PhD in Islamic Law from the University of Birmingham.
Known for his unique Britishness, and love for sweet things, he's taken the AlMaghrib world by storm!
Shaykh Abdul Nasir Jangda
Shaykh Abdul Nasir Jangda is the founder and director of Qalam Institute. He was born and raised in the Dallas area. At the age of 10 he went to Karachi, Pakistan to memorize the Quran. He excelled in his memorization and committed the entire Quran to memory in less than 1 year. He then returned home and continued his school education. After graduating from High School, he went back to Karachi to study the Alim Course at Jamia Binoria. He graduated from the rigorous 7 year program in 2002 at the top of his class and with numerous Ijaazaat (Licenses) in various Islamic Sciences. Along with the Alim Course he concurrently completed a B.A. and M.A. in Arabic from Karachi University. He also obtained a Masters in Islamic Studies from the University of Sindh. He taught Arabic at the University of Texas at Arlington from 2005 to 2007.
He has served as an instructor and curriculum advisor to various Islamic schools and Islamic studies programs. He served as the Imam at the Colleyville Masjid in the Dallas area for 3 years. He is a founding member and chairman of Mansfield Islamic Center. Abdul Nasir is an instructor with Bayyinah Institute, where his class “Meaningful Prayer” has traveled the country. His latest projects include Quran Intensive (a summer program focusing on Arabic grammar and Tafsir), Quranic analysis lectures, Khateeb Training, chronicling of the Prophetic Biography at www.qalaminstitute.org, and personally mentoring and teaching his students.
